The Association Française d’Identification Odontologique (AFIO) will be holding its 30th annual congress in Bordeaux

on the 1st and 2nd of October 2020.

The language of the Congress will be French.

Good morning to all of you,

AFIO Board members hope that you and your loved ones have been spared by the Covid

We have decided to continue our annual congress which will take place on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd October 2020 in Bordeaux.

– The first day, Thursday, October 1, will be dedicated to the repair of personal injury and has the theme “The dental surgeon facing expertise“.

This subject concerns both the practitioner and the expert, with the point of view of the various players of expertise: practitioner, insurer, expert, lawyer, member of the Order, magistrate, lawyer…

Mr. LEURENT, Director of the National School of Magistrates, will do us the honour of intervening.

– The second day, Friday 2 October, dedicated to identification has the theme “Evolution of issues and techniques” and encompasses the different facets of forensic odontological identification: individual identification, identification during disasters, age estimation and analysis of bite marks.

– The half-day of TP on Plassdata and WinID that we wanted initiated this year is postponed until next year.

The congress will take place at the Mercure Hotel Centre-ville in Bordeaux which, as the name suggests, has an ideal central location to allow you to discover or find this beautiful city.

The sanitary measures then in force will be applied.

This congress is the 30th and to celebrate this anniversary, we chose a magical place for the gala evening, a cruise on the “Burdigala” (Latin name of Bordeaux), a traditional Bordeaux barge.

The number of guests is limited, don’t wait to register!

In the evening of pre-congress, Wednesday, September 30, we invite delegates and companions to meet for an evening of wine, Bordeaux obliges. Please report your participation on the newsletter.

This year’s registration form includes some changes:

– a deadline of 1 August from which rates will be increased,

– the creation of a student rate reserved for graduate students and interns. (separate ballot)

– the proposal for a pre-congress evening. (on-site payment, rate communicated later)

If our conference is postponed, registrations will be refunded.

Very attentive to the health development of our country, we have of course hesitated to maintain or postpone our congress.

The decision to welcome you there has been well-considered.

At this difficult time, our congress is of a special character this year.

After these months of confinement, our most cherished desire is to meet again, to share very friendly moments and to exchange on topics that we are passionate about, motivated by the desire to expand our knowledge and improve ourselves.

Not to mention the possibility of extending the weekend in an idyllic setting after a confined spring and a laborious summer.

This can be an opportunity to visit the Bordeaux vineyards, to surf in Lacanau or to stroll through the Arcachon basin and the Pilat dune.

Over the past few months, AFIO has been active by sharing national and international news and publications on its Facebook page or on its website.

We also kept you informed of the cancellations of the various congresses: IOFOS, JDIQ in Quebec, CNEJOS, IALM.

More than ever, like all learned Societies, AFIO needs the support of its members, your support.

Without you, our Association cannot exist.
